JANUARY 2016 NEWS UPDATE: Click here to read an important update for Long Island and New York homeowners impacted by Hurricane Sandy about the NY Rising Grant Program

What is NY Rising?

NY Rising is a federal program designed to assist home owners affected by Storms Sandy, Irene and lee. This program is funded by HUD. NY State hired an architectural/engineering firm, LIRO, to administer funds.  This is grant money, not a loan.

The way this program is designed is NY Rising will send out an inspector to put a value on the work needed. From that value, NY Rising will deduct any insurance settlements and SBA loans. Most of the estimates we have seen so far fall short of actual costs.

NY Rising Update

The NY rising community reconstruction program is off to a slow start. As of January 2014, this program was not in full swing. Factors of our demographic here on Long Island are much different from the rest of the country. In all fairness, it does seem as if this program is being molded to be more functional and we do see money starting to be distributed.

See Once homes on Long Island start getting rebuilt and people start moving home, things will settle down.

We have firsthand information that they are improving the NY Rising Program constantly to suit everyone’s needs. It seems that this program will evolve to the needs of our demographic.
